UR Splash Day

Splash Day Fall 2020 is now over. Thank you to everyone who attended!

Splash Day is a day when high school students are invited to the University of Rochester's (this year virtual) campus for a fun day of learning. As a Splash student, you will have the chance to take hour-long classes designed and taught by passionate undergraduates at the University about a wide variety of topics. Some of the courses being taught at Splash Day 2020 are:

  • Lightsabers and Leitmotifs: The Music of Star Wars
  • Quantum Computing
  • Axanthic, melanistic, lucistic, or piebald: Genetics in the pet trade
  • Women in Science Fiction and Fantasy

You will be able to pick from our catalog of classes and design your own schedule for the day during registration. Pick as many or as few classes as you like: you get to decide what you learn! For a complete list of the classes being offered this year, check out our catalog.

Splash Day Fall 2020 will be held online via Zoom on Saturday, November 7. Registration for Splash Day closed on November 4.

A Note on Zoom Accounts

As mentioned, Splash Day will be held entirely over Zoom. Please make sure your name on Zoom is the same as the name on your Splash registration (first names are alright).

If you were provided with a Zoom account through your high school, we recommend using that account. If you are creating a new Zoom account for the purposes of this program, we strongly recommend reviewing Zoom's terms of service and making sure that you are in compliance with them. Zoom might have age restrictions on account creation in certain countries, and we do not condone the creation of accounts against terms of service. If you need to create an account but cannot do so due to age restrictions, you may participate in the program with a Zoom account belonging to a parent or legal guardian. UR Splash will not be liable for any breaches of Zoom's terms of service.

Important Information for International Participants

Recently we have started accepting international participants due to the virtual nature of our events. However, there are still a few things that need to be worked out in the registration form. If you are an international participant not from Canada or UK, please keep the following in mind (this notice will also be at the top of the registration form):

  • While providing your address, please fill out the "city/state/zip" portion of the form as follows: Provide your city and country in the first text box. Select "International" in the dropdown (this dropdown should have US states). If your country uses ZIPs that aren't 5 digits long, then enter "00000" as your ZIP.
  • Your school likely will not show up as you start typing in the "School" field. Don't worry about this. Just enter your school name in the field. If the form gives you an error, enter "N/A" in the field.
